5 Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks if You Want to Sell Your Home

April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring new opportunities for real estate. There are a lot of reasons why springtime is a popular time to sell in many parts of the country. The days are longer, warmer, and sunnier than they are in the winter, prompting people to feel more lively. If you find yourself wanting to sell your home during the spring, now is a good time to get started on the spring cleaning and update process. The winter tends to be quieter and more low-key, but now that it’s spring, get a jump start on your cleaning checklist. Here are some tips to get your home prepped for sale.

Clean Windows and Curtains to Let in Natural Light

Make the most of the spring and summer by making sure the windows, drapes, and curtains are nice and clean. During the winter, they tend to collect dust and dirt, which can inhibit natural night from flowing through. Take the time to make your way through every window and clean the inside and outside of the glass. If your curtains are machine washable, run them through the wash. If not, you can also hand wash!

Pressure Wash Exterior

Winters in many parts of the country are damp, snowy, and overall quite messy. The exterior of your house will easily get dirty from all of the mud and grime, making the appearance of it look older. That’s where pressure washers come in. Pressure washers are high-power washing tools that you can use to clean off the exterior of your house. Pick a warm weekend and rent one from your local hardware store if you don’t already own one. The difference will be astonishing!

Clean Up the Lawn

Curb appeal is everything if you want to sell your house fast. We don’t suggest you neglect it. After a few months of snow and cold rain, the exterior of your house will probably need some work. Start by removing any trash and debris and move on to sprucing it up with some extra grass seed, new flowers, and anything else to give it a freshened-up look!

Add Fresh Paint to the Interior

If you’re looking for ways to brighten up the inside of your house, you might want to look at the walls and doors. These areas tend to collect some dirt and stains over the years, and the wintertime certainly doesn’t help. Depending on how long it’s been since you’ve done a fresh paint job, now might be a good time to start anew. Choose a color that is neutral but also attractive. If you don’t feel comfortable going the DIY route, you can also hire a local painting company to help you out.

Deep Clean Carpets

Carpets don’t stand a chance against muddy shoes and paws. Luckily, carpet cleaners exist for a reason. Start by vacuuming and doing a spot treatment on some of the more difficult areas. Then, move on to using a carpet cleaning machine on all areas of the carpet. Sometimes mud can be stubborn, so don’t hesitate to do this process over again.

Get your home ready for a spring sale with some of the ideas above. The goal is to make your home as fresh and new as possible, and these are just some of the ways to get you started. Happy Spring!
